I'm cutting weight for Provincials right now. My resting weight has been around 215 and within the past few weeks I have been cutting back on junk food and cleaning up my diet. This week I cut off carbs pretty much completely and having been sticking to Salmon, chicken, eggs, and vegetables. This morning when I woke up I was at 206 lbs. That leaves me with about 8 Lbs to lose. I have been doing lots of cardio from 60 minutes to 80 minutes a day and will be cutting out all weight training and Armwrestling training for this week to give my body a chance to recover. I had brutal tendon injuries in my left wrist at the Saskatoon Circuit tournament but my wrist is feeling quite a bit better than it was then. I would say it is at about 85% of what it should be. I can't not pull lefty though as it is usually my best arm at tournaments. I will have lots of rest between provincials and Nationals and I will use that time wisely. I know I will be facing Kayne at provincials who I respect very much and have a back and forth record with but with him having much more wins on me. He is a very good armwrestlerwith quite a few years in the sport. I may also be facing Jason Roy but I'm not sure yet. I believe last year he pulled in the 198 class as he did face Kayne at Provincials (however... it my have been due to nobody in his class and so he jumped up ?? ). Jason also has countless wins on me with me getting my very first wins on him at the Saskatoon Circuit tournament this year but he was very strong and very fast and I will never underestimate either guy. I respect both guys so very much and all I can do is go in there with a positive mind set and try my best. Hopefully cutting weight won't play to much of a factor. I have been cutting weight for every tournament this year to make 198 Lbs and have done very well and that was pulling in 6 classes at every tournament so I'm thinking I will be fine for 1 class as far as energy goes. Can't think of anybody else in the province that would give me any kind of struggle in the 198 Lb class so I'm thinking Top 3 for sure. I will keep updates daily (hopefully ) on my weight loss and diet leading up to Provincials (Probably not interesting to most but will be a good reference for myself)

Ok..... Haven't updated my online log for a while but I have been keeping a really good training log on paper at home.
Here's the scoop.
Once more I dieted down to 198 Lbs and made weight for Provincials. I pulled not bad and ended up with two 2nd place finishes. VERY nice trophy's for 2nd place. After weighing in this time I didn't bounce back like I did at other tournaments this year and didn't feel like I had much power. I'm very sure it wouldn't have made a difference in the provincials standings as Kayne Hemsing was VERY STRONG! but it made me realize that I'm SICK of dieting down to 198Lbs especially when I'm like a 220Lb guy. I have more stamina and more power at 220 compared to when I'm 198.
I haven't fully decided if I'm going to diet down to 198Lbs one last time for Nationals or not but I'm leaning that way. At this point I'm throwing hardcore weight cutting and dieting out the window and eating healthy but eating LOTS! and I started up on Creatine and my power is definitely increasing. I miss eating lots of steak and extra lean ground beef and such. What a treat.
I have also started hitting the weights and training like I should be training. Pull-ups, pushups, Towel over knuckle exercises, seated press, and much more. I will post my training log entries from my paper log book soon for those that are interested. I know I'm no champ now but time and hard work and change that and people might want to know how it happened. I listen lots of training tips from the top guys and use different things from different people and I plan on switching it up every so often as well.

I too need to shed pounds of fat (for health reasons of course). I'd like to be 250 or 260 lean. Anyways, from what I've been hearing from most people that diet down quite a ways to get to a certain bracket, they all say that they should have just stayed at their natural weight. The body is under a lot of stress at the lower weight. Now I don't think this applies to only having 5 or 10 pounds to lose. I think if you drop 50 a month before a tournament, then it might affect your overall performance. Eat right, train hard and have fun!

The dieting down part wasn't the hardest on me, it was the constantly dieting and cutting around 15 lbs before every circuit tournament (every couple weeks) shedding extra fat made me faster and increased my endurance but I'm sick of cutting 15 or more Lbs right before weigh-ins.

Thursday June 19, 2008 Just had a HydraSeal Surgery today that I have been on a waiting list for going on 2 years now. It was a day surgery and it went very well. I will now be off work for 2 weeks and unable to train for an additional 2 weeks after that. I'm not excited about all the training that I will be missing but this is a good opportunity for my body to heal from the surgery and a chance for my injured left wrist to finally heal up and give myself a mandatory break from training. This season I have trained like never before and cut to much weight way to many times and now I finally get to fully heal up from all the abuse. If it wasn't for this I just know that I would keep training hard and never give myself quite enough time to heal. Now I will focus on getting lots of rest and eating healthy so that I don't just lay here getting fat for 2 weeks

Well..... I figured it was time to sign back up at the gym to put on some muscle to help me with my Arm Wrestling. I am still practicing with Team Saskatoon and not missing any practices but I have realized that practicing combined with some workouts at home just aren't helping me to improve fast enough (may work for some but I think I need more) I signed up at the only real Hard Core gym in the city (Iron Works Gym) with no tv's or plants or B.S and it's a place where all the serious Body Builders go in the city and surrounding area go to make real Gains. MMA fighters and Strong Men competitors and even Olympic weight lifters train there. I had been a member there once before and decided to become a member again. Not sure if anybody has checked out Bodyspace.com but it is a great way to keep track of your workouts and even does up graphs for you and lets you know when you have improved in your lifts and things like that. I have been on bodyspace.com for a short time but find it handy and am logging my workouts on there now. bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/CKlashin/My workout tracker: workout.bodybuilding.com/CKlashin/
