Do you mean to tell me that you don't know that in a hook that your wrist & hand should be hooked in towards yourself? You then drag your opponent towards you and the pin. Just don't make the mistake of turning away from it or trying to do a straight up bicep curl. You are attacking the other guy's arm, not his hand. Just practice and figure out which way this is strongest for you. When you practice don't just have a bunch of matches, but spot each other and learn the technique, and the variations, that work for you. Even if Tyrell could smoke you in a hook he should be able to tell you when you feel strongest when varying where the pressure is. That actually helps ALOT. Thank you. What way should be knuckles be facing if I'm in a positive/winning position? I just don't want to be a one dimensional puller, you know what I'm saying? I can't see myself going very far if all I know how to do is Toproll.

For the record... I know a few guys who have won World Championships (WAF ones... not one of those fake World Titles) just toprolling.
When was the last time you saw someone like Travis Bagent in a hook match?
I train it because sometimes you get caught... or perhaps it is an easier way to beat an opponent... but if it is not your primary move I would not make it a priority. I would rather be "really good" at one thing than "ok" at a couple. In time that inside power will come.
Some guys actually think they are hooking but really what they are doing is pressing with their tricep. A good example of a tricep press is Kade.

That is right... if you can become as good at toprolling as Travis then you do not have to know how to hook. Just train to get stronger and play around with it in practice. Ask Kelly to show you the next time he is at practice with you guys.

Thanks for all the info Ryan.
I just hate it when every single person at practice can beat me in a hook. Sometimes I can avoid it, but other times I have no choice. Good examples are with Kayne, Kade, and Tyrrell. They can suck me into a hook so easy and once they turn my wrist in on the GO, I have Nothing for resistance for them.

It would be great to learn it from Kelly, He's great at teaching me stuff. But.....He doesn't come out hardly ever.

Are you sure Kade and Tyrell are even hooking you? And if they are... don't you observe it and learn what they are doing? It seems to me like both of them press more than hook.

They hook in my wrist and then pin me. I know for sure it isn't a toproll. I can't press either. I'm a 1 trick guy.

You can break your arm TOPROLLING, I DID!
Travis NEEDS to get stronger in a hook, because all the Europeans are starting, I said starting, to hook him. John and Matt Girdner also hook him.
Like topping, there are different ways to hook too. Ex: Gripping low, gripping high, knuckles facing your opponent, knuckles facing up.
To hook you "should" be wrist to wrist.
Get you elbow flexors STRONGER!!!!!!!!! And Pec too!
