I just came back from the West Coast Pro-AM's in Santa Claritia. I had great conversation with Travis Bagent on training tips. Travis stated he did reps with a 160lb DB on the preacher on an exercise similar but I believe the top half partials.

I don't believe a word that comes out of Bagent's mouth... but that doesn't sound too outrageous.

I think Travis does his on a 45 degree preacher bench which would make it alot easier then what Ryan is doing on a 90 degree angle.

you are correct - TP did referr to a 45 deg not a 90 deg... As to believeability, we were sitting together relatively quiet at the west coast pro am and i was given alot of information and I don't believe he was BS'ing me...he also told me he does concentration curls with 100 lbs modified (he showed me the angle and motion but i can't explain it briefly)... I asked about wrist curls and he says he does not do them... can anyone advise me as to what's 'world class' in a dumbbell wrist curl without extending your fingers? i can get up to 110lbs for 6 reps but i'm told there are guys that can do reps with 200lbs 1 hand..is this true? also I met Vern (1 arm bandit)...it is incredible to watch him pull..he has all my respect ...i hope to meet other CAWF members at Las Vegas in April.. cheers JGH

what i said was I 'heard' there are guys that can do this...I saw a pic on some website of a guy (he is an armwrestler but cant recall the name) doing wrist curls with 8 - 45 lb plates (360lbs) on a pipe and he was nealing on a bench holding it. going thru my old Iron Man mags I read an article on Casey Viator (Mr. Universe in the 70's) that could do wrist curls (2 hands) with 315lbs...I'm tryng to get a 'read' on what's 'world class' on this lift and where I need to set my sights...JGH

Hi all: I just returned from the Arizona Charlies' contest in Las Vegas. Pretty good show. I pulled Sunday and got 3rd in the Grand Master's 243+ and Left Amatuer 243+; ok but nothing to brag about. Anyway I spend some time with Michael Todd while there. !st I do want to say that he is a very nice guy and offered alot of training tips. In the course of conversation, I talked about this posting subject. To clarify he does what I can best describe as a modified curl and row motion in the 300# range. He can do standing curls with 200# but not 300 range. Given he weighs in the 220's, he' still one strong MF... Also Vern 'the one arm bandit' just impresses the crap out of me - he is really an inspiration... JGH

Can you please explain a little more clearly what a modified curl in a row motion is? I can easily do reverse grip rows with over 300lbs... but it is not anywhere close to being a curl.

Was this a table wrist curl paul?? do you know David Horne? I believe he has done a couple hundred kilos on this movement.
