I understand that Clayton and Anthony are interested in hosting 2015. Perhaps they can confirm that. Is anyone else interested? What about for 2016? Will the host for these two years be determined at the AGM this year? That is, should people be putting together bid packages for presentation in May 2014 if they want to host Nationals in 2015 OR 2016?

I think this would be a good idea.

Sask was awarded the 2016 Nationals. The 2015 are up for bid. Also in 2016 we can move Nationals to the July 1 long weekend, for 4 years.

I'm in favour of keeping Victoria Day Weekend as the permanent weekend, but will obviously go with the majority. I think this should be put to a country-wide vote.

Yes the Vancouver Armwrestling Club is interested in hosting the 2015 Nationals.

What is the genesis of the four years? Is that in the constitution? Or do you just mean that we should vote to set the date for the next four years and then vote on the particular day?
We should do an email vote now regarding the date so that the venue for 2015 can be secured. Some places will book a year ahead.
Victoria Day weekend and the weekend nearest July 1 are both good options. What if July 1 is on Wednesday?
July 1 gives less time for visas, but is a better travel time with kids out of school. July 1 has better weather and cash-strapped armwrestlers can tie it to their vacations.
I like to have Provincials eight weeks before nationals so that there is time to recover, have a six-week training camp and then a week to tweak, travel and cut weight. July 1 for Nationals gives us a longer "season" for tournaments before Provincials, Nationals and Worlds. I like the logic of other tournaments being from October 1 to March 31, followed by Provincials in April and May, Nationals, then Worlds in September.

The 4 years is that July 1 will be a long weekend from 2016 - 2019 after that July 1 will be mid week.

I would prefer July 1 for sure. Maybe Gord and others that know how to beat the system can explain how to pay the right person $100 or something like that to expedite the visa for worlds process. That would free up July 1 weekend. Secondly, I don't mind if the July 1 falls on a Wednesday, if you gotta fly to Nationals, just take off an extra day from work - that works way better for me being that my wife is a teacher.
When Nationals is in PEI, I'd want to take my wife and make a holiday out of it, but on May long that does not work for us (kids in school then too).

The thing is, how many people can take 2 days off work. Would we get a better turnout if we ran it the last weekend in June or first weekend of July?

I'd agree with Eric, maybe a country wide vote is the way to do this.
