In armwrestling events you've been to, what made them the most fun, and what were they?
1) Personally UAL 4 in Las Vegas was my favourite ever - much to do with the production value, very pro feeling, combined with having so many top-quality athletes in one room. Also, fun to go to Vegas with my wife and stay at the MGM Grand. 2) Participation wise Kayne Hemsing's last event in Saskatchewan (Fit2Fight Cup 2013) had triple elimination so lots of pulling, high-quality competition, and was fun road trip w/ some buds from Edmonton. Also helped Andrew Grant did a great job videotaping, so you know you get to watch it after soon too. 3) Canadian Nationals in Ottawa 2011 - love the Ottawa area, being an Alberta born, raised and lived here my whole life. Great quality competition, with prestige of National title on the line. (I also enjoyed Winnipeg and Vancouver Nationals a whole lot for the same reasons!)

Hands down John Milne's and Devon Larratt's last 2 circuit events. 10$ entree fee, cash pay outs, minimized classes to eliminate classes with under 8-10 pullers and arm wars rules to encourage grind matches with little stoppage. His format, rules and auction system is geared towards making it interactive and entertaining for spectators (and that's what has to happen if sport ever grows to mainstream).
Other advantages..
-In largest class all pullers get entree fee few back. - auction system allows knowledgable pullers and spectators to make $$ without competing.
Best format I've ever participated in.

Location. Ottawa is perfectly centralized to cater to Quebec & Ontario. However, if they d actually made $$ or not, I do not know. I know I made 550$ in 3.5 hours. Lol.

I've had a great time at many events. The top ones are probably the ones where the classes were large and filled with talent, e.g. many of the Vegas events, the Harley Pull, the MGC, etc. I've also enjoyed events that have experimented different formats: Quebec Enduro/Ontario Ironman (quintuple elim with money way down the line), round robins, the Arm Melters with triple elimination and title belts, etc. When there are few weight classes, it's fun to see match-ups you don't often get to see.

Very true Eric. Your ironman event was probably one of the funnest experiences. There's little stress when you know you have 5 outs.

Having never attended a "high profile" event I'd definately have to say the Arm Melter Series!!! By far my favorite event Joe Gould knows how to throw party!!! One that sticks out for me was the last Eastern Ontario's with the inclusion of the Nitro Super Series. Now that was an awesome event which I hope doesnt get pushed to the side anytime soon. But my favorite so far would have had to be thenlast tourney I went to, The Mapleton Rodeo and Aw'ing tournament. Awesome day relaxed atmosphere. The turnout wasnt the best but I got to lay a beating on that bully Manjin and the ever tough Craig Mitchell. Sometimes the smallest tourney's end up being the most memorable.
