One thing with triple elimination that I forgot about - I think you need a minimum of 5 people per class for it to work. Some classes don't get there, so that means Andrew's preference for a C bracket competing for third place makes sense. (There are lots of little issues like this to sort through at the end game stage). (Edit Nov 25, 2013 - Eric just informed me that there is no minimum for triple elimination - oops!)

If the number of classes at nationals are cut down and we still can't get a minimum of 5 pullers... Time to pack it in.

Why do you say triple elimination doesn't work if there are less than five competitors?

We discussed the "C" side issue at our AGM and everyone was in favour of the "C" side being able to still have a chance to win. MacPhail has done it

Maybe I am wrong about that, I just saw on the printyourbrackets.com website that triple elim starts at 5 entries - I guess yeah on second thought maybe that does work? I've never ran triple elimination before.

There's no minimum. If there are only two pullers, then it's the same thing as a best 3 of 5.
