Awesome idea I think should be implemented at all tournaments. I've seen tournaments where the after tourney pulling was longer then the tournament itself! Might as well get more tournament experience against more opponents. I can't see the negative side of making the switch. You got my vote.

Don't have an issue with the way it currently is and the triple elimination sounds interesting. People pay allot of money to travel and more pulling makes sense. Just would hate the days to be twice as long though, would be tough on the referees and volunteers. Maybe it would even out a little more with the less classes proposed and gives people more opportunity for a come back and not as long as a wait time between pulls.

might have to have at least 4 tables running means more refs needed

No with less classes we can do it on 3 tables. We'll just have to make sure everyone stays close by and call who's on deck.

yes but lets say there is the same amount of competitors example 200 , with triple elim. each class is bigger plus going to take 33% longer? no?

I think triple elimination tournaments are great for the endurance factor, and in my experience at the worlds, they can move through the classes fairly quickly and it really is the endurance that can make or break you at that level. I feel triple elimination would filter out those athletes that have been working hard, who in turn may better represent Canada. I can see how larger weight classes could save $, but totally believe that the classes should be the same as the worlds. There is not emough time in my opinion to prepare for drastic weight changes between Nationals and Worlds.

Well since it really should be the hardest tourney to win in Canada and since it is the most expencive I think changing to triple elimination is a great idea. It would make endurance a huge factor along with other things and you will be getting your moneys worth

Agreed Joel. Triple elimination feeds right into my wheel house. I have more endurance than Jesus. Wow does that sound arrogant. AS MUCH as Jesus, NOT more.

LOL Chris you crack me up . I like the Idea more pulling , as an old guy it takes me a pull to warm up. We are trying to make the National less expensive to run by eliminating classes but wouldn't you have to add more refs to run an extra table? And most likely pay more to the refs for making them work a longer day. I would think you have to run an extra table right?
