Ryan, not sure in 2014 yet.. Actually the CAWF is going to be funding nationals from now on. Basically there will be a suggested cost, lets say as an example $12,500 So CAWF would cover this amount & anything over that would be up to the host. Lise will be working out the amount so we are waiting to see what happens with this. I think there will be more people willing to host in the future. Sounds like you guys are on the right track AD... I am happy to see progress being made.

I know the details haven't been ironed out, and I wasn't personally at the meeting, but from what I understand I don't think it's that the CAWF will be fully funding Nationals. I think it's more that they'll be incurring the risk for the first $12,500. So if only $10,000 is generated through entry fees, the CAWF will pony up the $2,500 difference. If the event costs $20,000 to put on, I think the promoter is still responsible for finding funds for the $7,500 shortfall. I may be wrong, but I think this is what is meant. But regardless, I agree this is a step in the right direction. I look forward to seeing more information.
Anthony, was a timeline discussed as to when we can expect to hear more?

The other thing I like is having a standard award. Not necessarily that compelling for the competitors, but definitely less of a burden on the promoter.

actually not enough said. not to be a dyck ian but if ontarios and quebec "elite pullers" didn't come to this years nationals then why would you think the rest of the countrys "elite pullers" would automatically go to nationals in ontario every year?
look at the results from nats 2008,2009,2010. not held in ontario, and pretty sparse ontario and quebec turn out for how many pullers there is in those provs.
ontario has an elite event every year the the rest of the country travels to, the mgc, where the best can pull the best cause most everyone will be there.

Emotional arguments from those living on the extreme west coast (shocking). Matt.. The nba, NHL etc.. Make $$.
Over 50% of the countries pullers reside in Ontario, 75% in & bordering. Ontario had more entrees at their provincials then bc had at the nationals.
Who cares about where the elite pullers travel to, they are few and do not represent the the Canadian aw world.
How many more times can the nationals promoters keep losing $$??
Dan & Matt... The security of the masses out weight those of the (very) few.

Eric, I don't think a timeline was discussed. At the very latest it would be next years AGM.
Ryan, yes there will be awards used from now on (cheaper for the host)

Read Eric's first post.
As long as people are not willing to host the tournament, then don't expect it to be in the same Province year after year. Too much time and money.
If you want it every year in Ontario, then step up and bid.

"Over 50% of the countries pullers reside in Ontario, 75% in & bordering. Check your facts. No other province has travelled as much as Ontario over the last decade. In 2004 it was in Manitoba and Ontario won team trophy. 2005 in quebec same deal. I've never seen you Matt travel outside of your own province to compete. You might not be the right guy to be endorsing cross country travel.
