Rice digs aside from being a good finisher are also awesome for active recovery on off days - get's a lot of blood into the hands and forearms, but there's not enough resistance to overdo it or cause added strain on its own.
I know some HC grip guys like to use sand or lead shot...

I'm not sure Ryan, that stuff is pretty hard. We have some knurled shaft here but it is only about 1/2 the thickness of that shaft.

We've got a lathe and all of that, its the shaft that is the problem. The shaft I use is hardened stainless steel. A bandsaw won't cut it so I use our chop shaw and I can only make maybe 5 cuts and it burns off a blade.
