Obviously not for me.... but can someone explain some different techniques for weight cutting other than the conventional sauna sessions?
The one I think I am most interested in is the epsom salt flush. Reading this online says its a bit of a process but I have heard of armwrestlers doing an epsom salt flush the day before a meet. Can anyone elaborate on this?

From what i understand a proper epsom salt flush will make your body release your gallbladder and liver stones and is supposed to be pretty good for you to do. But if you just want to loose a little weight before a turny mix about 8 tables p o o n s of epsom salt with 3 cups of distilled water and have some lemon juice or grapefruit juice ready for after the salt water beceause it is supposed to be awful. This should be done the day before the turny and you should make sure not to have any plans to be very far away from the can for a couple of hours or you will be in trouble ;D

This method, as well as diahretics i find is not the best solution. Possible long term side effects if done consistently. Dieting down safely, and than losing no more than 2% of your body weight in water prior to weigh ins is the safest and most eficient way. I ve done this 15-20 times, and never found i lost stamina or strenght.

I've lost 16 pounds in 9 days with this diet below and constant motion. Not cardio, but always doing something. Of course, I usually have, ummm, let's call it "reserves" to spare. Someone who already is quite lean might not get those results. I felt fine during and after this diet. It's probably better than I usually eat. www.idiet4u.com/diets/sacredheart.htmlThe salts will glue you to the bowl, give you "Johnny Cash A s s", and make you feel horrible. It just can't be healthy for you. Your better off to sauna yourself. People use Epsom Salts for lawn fertilzer!!

T... I worry about you on that diet. It does not seem conducive to gaining strength.
It does look interesting... just not for a strength athlete.

I thought we were talking about cutting weight, not strength training. Seems to be a healthy way to cut weight to me. Fruits, vegetables, some carbs and protein. Still a landslide above purging your guts with Epsom Salts I'm sure, though I'm no doctor.
I also know that Curtis has followed the same weight cutting plan with good results and no bad side effects.
What would be your recommendation for cutting? I'm new to the "losing weight before a tourny" thing and am definitely up to suggestions.

Ty I am talking about weight cutting... for a strength athlete. Protein is a must.
I am looking for ideas here... but the sauna is always an option especially at Worlds as there is a very long time to recover.

Actually worlds would be the one tourney where you could drop a boat load of water weight and still have time to recover just because of the schedule for the event. Some guys will weigh-in tues. morning and not compete until sat. at noon giving them plenty of time to recover.
That is unless you go nuts like the russian guy did in S.A. where he was on lacix (spelling ??) for a couple of days and he dropped 27 kilo's. They had to carry him to the weigh scale and then he was so weak they had to give him I.V. injections to bring him back. He got his butt wupped.
I would have to agree with what Chris said in his post though about gradually dropping down in weight. If you have the time 1-2 months the herbalife plan that Keith Koenig sells is very effective and a healthy way to drop weight. I dropped roughly 20 pounds in 2 months on that plan. For the first 3 weeks I barely lost weight but once my body adjusted to the different diet and I started losing the weight it just meltd off of me and I didn't lose any strenght in the process.
