Dealing with inmates, working opposite shifts with my wife ALL THE TIME, short change overs once per week, and 7 shifts in a row minimum... REALLY kills the training. My job (or rather the schedule) sucks... anyone hiring?
If only we could all land a deal like Travis. I would settle for partial sponsorship and job share.

Hours is why I got out of the hospitality industry ,, now its monday to friday 8 to 5 and I'm never going back to those messed up shifts.

Hmmm... but then I would have to love in Thompson. Maybe... if the money was right. I still have to travel to events so it would be tough to live that far north.

Yup your right Ryan that is the down fall to Thompson. But to get something sometimes you have to give up something. For me I had to leave home to have great fishing 20 min away and I can Skidoo right out my back yard and out to the ski hill for a days fun.. But to get anywhere (assuming wpg is somewhere) you have to drive 8 hours. which is why you don't get to see my smiling face as much as you would like.

Pack up everyone and follow Scott west. I think anyone may be able to get work in Alberta (Calgary or Fort McMurray, anyway) in almost any field.

This is easy to say, but.... there is a ton of work in Alberta. The local paper in Grande Prairie has 12 pages of career ads, and there's way more than 10 ads per page (up to 20 per). But, it's no small deal to pack up and move, right? I'm still living within 40 minutes of where I grew up, so I'm not one to talk about packing up and moving! And, typically, oil patch related jobs aren't the best for the training schedule, either!
Good luck!

I'm considering the Winnipeg Police force. A guy from church just become an officer. He's in his 30s. Would that be up your alley? I know 4 cops personally so know a bit about it. There is shift work but they change up and you have a fair bit of days off. Your still dealing with scum however.

In the U.S. Correction Officers have the highest divorce rate, #1 stressful job in ALL of law enforcement, AND the avg. age a Correction officer lives to is 59.Those stats were for ALL law enforcement, local, state, and federal......AT LEAST thats what it was before I retired in 98.....SO GOOD LIKE RYAN. ;D

d**n Christian... I try not to think about the stats. Being that my wife is also a Correctional Officer I guess we are really fighting the odds.
