Ha ha that is funny, the UFC Style pound-based system is winning! It does match UAL classes at the top end, which could be a good thing, but is more refined on the lower end and better than the UAL classes there IMO.

It was whittled down to a 7 class system - most support APPEARED to be for Nemiroff classes at the time, but the other two options were never clearly voted on. The reason I put up this poll was because the Nemiroff classes have a 78kg class instead of a 77kg class, so it makes the issue confused - hopefully this can help nail it down. The three options shown above were the only three previously displayed as the front-runners, and I have not changed any of them for this poll. Honestly, I am a little surprised by the way this poll has gone thus far, as I was expecting a Nemiroff landslide. I have not yet voted as I didn't want to effect the result at an early stage.

I don't think it was just whittled down. It was clearly identified in the voting process for the provinces.

I know in NS it was clearly stated what the 7 classes would be as there was lots of conversation.

Same with the submission to the committee to vote, the classes were clearly identified.

I don't think this message board poll is binding in any way, but I too am surprised by the results.

For the record, while my preference is the first option in this poll, I could easily live with any of these options, including the one that was originally voted on and approved.

Two points I'd like to make:

OK, first off I think Scott and Will are mostly right (with the exception I explain below). Second I didn't expect everyone to go for the UFC classes, and I'm now wishing I omitted that option.

I think the Nemiroff style and the 1.107 multiplier breakdowns are both sooooo close to what Rick's official vote sheet says, that the classes could be changed to one of those and shouldn't needlessly Rock-the-boat.

Regarding Rick's official vote sheet - IMO either the 77kg should be treated as a typo and switched to 78kg to match Nemiroff, OR the 86kg class taken as a typo changed to 85kg to match a 1.107 multiplier class. To me it sure looks like Rick intended to put one of these two pre-determined groups in the original poll, but it's impossible to tell which one; of course Rick can clarify if I am right about this since I can't read his mind.

That clears it up Jeff. When I was 1st reading, it looked like we were taking another poll to see what classes to go with. The two classes you mention are not the only change. The 139 class went to 140 in the UFC version

I locked this poll because of what Will and Scott bring up - I think choosing the UFC -style breakdown is likely too much of a deviation (several classes are different) from what the official vote sheet of Rick's had. I'm starting a new poll with only the top two choices - they are VERY close to one another, but to stay in-line with what the presidents voted on, I'm thinking it would have to be one of those two. Sorry for the confusion!
