Guy posted that he doesn't like the idea of having Nationals on the May long weekend. Who else would prefer a different weekend? We could run it on a regular weekend if we started earlier Saturday morning, run the Referee Seminar after and then the Open tournament on Sunday. The only problem is you'd have to take 2 days off work for traveling.

Appreciate that Rick, I may be one of a few. Spring is horrible for me. The entire GTA moves to my cottage area and want all there cottage/homes going for the summer with all fixes and such ready for that weekend. Construction deadlines all seem to meet for that weekend. Its HELL for a month before and a month after. Question, would you not have to take those same two days even with a long weekend? Up until recently the ref seminar was on the Monday. I suggested it be earlier so it could be a travel day. I feel like I am pregnant doging alot but if I am alone in my thoughts, change nothing. Thanks for at least looking into it though!

When it's on a long weekend a person is only missing 1 day of work as opposed to 2.

^This is one of the reasons why I think Victoria Day weekend is currently the best option (unfortunately not for everyone). With the Worlds now occuring in September, Labour Day Weekend is not an option, the August long weekend doesn't leave enough time to organize a team for Worlds, and unfortunately Canada Day doesn't always mean a long weekend in late June/early July. With more than three months between Nationals and Worlds, pullers have adequate time to try to peak for both events, plus more time to fundraise and plan for travel.
Because the senior classes are run on the Sunday, at a minimum most pullers need Saturday and Monday to travel, which is why a three-day weekend with Monday off is the best option.
If Worlds moves back to later in the year, then I'd definitely be open to possibly switching the date for Nationals.

I love where the Nats are going to be, but the timing is not optimal.. With the Provs so close, the Arnold's in March, MGC, and Mark's tourny all in March we are going to get financially SLAMMED>
I also wish the World's were in November again...
