My outer wrist hurts when I use finger pressure....
I've been pulling consistently once a week now for about 5 months, no weights or gym time, just table work and pull ups on 2.5" parallel pipe and I'm just starting to get acclimated to pulling. I feel heaps stronger, and the regular soreness in my shoulders and elbows usually only lasts a couple of days now give or take- unlike the weeks when I first started, but the problem now is I think my wrist/hand/fingers need to catch up with the rest of my arm.
I just started the club in my town and we are all rookies, and everyone else is smaller and weaker than me, hand wise especially. One on one I can take them EASILY so what we do usually is when I am pulling they use two hands (which I find helps with back pressure/side pressure but not so much with hand control) or I let them hit and try to take my hand. This was fine, but now when they hit and try a toproll my left wrist just KILLS if I try to stop the TR (and my right a little too). It feels like my wrist wants to dislocate actually... Hooking is fine, or me initiating a TR is also fine, its the pressure of trying to stay cupped with my fingers starting to get opened that really hurts. Basically the pain starts when my wrist is being opened and is just slightly cocked/cupped BEFORE straight and the pressure is out on my fingers or more specifically my pinky and ring fingers. Also it seems to lesson the more warmed up I get, but still persists depending on how much I isolate the area.
Is this normal? Has anyone ever had this pain before (I'm assuming someone has)? Is it a potentially serious issue? How do I strengthen this area, do I train through the pain or just around it etc?
Thanks
Adam
