Unfortunately we had a seriuos injury yesterday at our tournament. Tommy Dawe a new puller with only a few months practice broke his arm. He was not in a bad position it was just "one of those things that happen", unfortunate as it is.
I was just speaking with him and everything is going well - considering.
If you do not know about "Injury Reports" they can be found on the Referee site. If you have a serious injury at a tournament please fill it out and send it to either Lise or myself. You can find our addresses on the site. It is importantant that these be filled out. We need to see if there are any similarities in the root causes of these accidents. If we do find something then it could be useful to help train new pullers.
It would also be usefull to know how many we are having per year. I think that considering the number of matches that are run per year the occurances are extremely low.

Rick is right he was not in bad position ......just snapped. Rick do you know what happens as far as surgery...be it a plate pinned to the humerous or a rod down the centre? Do they even do surgery? I was told it depends on the break. On a similar topic torn biceps are not always operated on.

No surgery. They just wrapped him up. They had to keep him overnight. He had no feeling in his fingers due to a bruised vein, but everything is fine now.
