Hey there, Welcome to the Board.
Sounds like you are in pretty good shape and with your interest in the sport, you are already starting out well.
I recommend hitting up a local tournament and see how you do. It's a good chance to see what true tournament pulling is about and it would be a great chance for you to meet some local pullers and possibly join a local team. Tournament style pulling is VERY different from armwrestling with your buddies but that doesn't mean that you won't be good at it. There will definetly be some adapting needed but I'm sure you will manage.

In response to "Is this good":
Its all relative to how you do on the armwrestling table. How much you can curl may not determine how good of an armwrestler you are or can be. Enter a tournament somewhere... just enter without worrying about weight cutting or anything like that at this stage.

I think one of the first things I would do is to find out if there are any clubs in your area and try to learn a few things. I've seen lots of times where new pullers go to tournaments and just wind up getting hurt, you never know the experience level of that guy across the table when you're new. I'm not trying to scare people off I just think that it's better to be safe than sorry. Or just ask lots of questions on this site and follow the links to videos and watch and learn.

And as far as wanting to lose a few pounds for the 176 pound class, depending how lean you are probably wouldn't hurt you none and may increase your chance of winning a little. My average weight is 203 and This is what I normally do to make 198. At a night before the compitition I usually have something really light to eat, preferably greens of any sort and a large glass of water and as well very little sodium content in your meals for that day. A tournament weigh in usually happens in the morning of, I can hold off eatting until weighing in. Try to be one of the first to weigh in and you'll probably have a good hour or two to stuff your face and try to regain some strength, my suggestion is a big juicy steak and Egg breakfast and any high glycemic carbohydrates to go along with it (Baked patato). Some of this may be a little to much, considering I went down to 193. Just be carefull, Your CNS needs to be aware of what you're going to do that day, for that may cause severe injury to the body if not replenished in time, you'll need your sleep and plenty of carbs before compitition!
