The other way i practice hits is i hook up bands to the table and hit into them and it does not put a big shock into your arm.

In Bulgaria this year the coach from the Slovakian team told me that the best way to train for explosive hits was rope climbing. He said as they get closer to a tourney they cut back on table time and increase rope climbing into their schedule. Also if you like pain I remember Devon telling me that he used to train taking hits by having someone drop a 50 lb plate with a rope attached to it that he was hanging onto with about 2 feet of slack. Mind you he is a freak of nature and could handle that, I know I couldn't.
