What do you guys do if you have a bad cold, flu, etc? I hit a few workouts this week but opted to skip tonights as this cold has knocked the crap out of me. I will not train again until Monday.

Rest & let the body recover. When I am sick unless I feel the urge to train I don't, But when I do, only go till slight pump just to keep the blood moving. I find if I feel like crap I'm just making myself more tired, played out & find it takes longer to recover from the illness. Lots of sleep.

I've always been told not to train while sick because you are just breaking down your muscles more, so you body is going to have to recover itself from the cold/sickness you have AND somehow try to repair your muscles that you broke down. It will only keep you sick longer.

I do not train if I am sick.
I am lucky in that regard I suppose, I rarely get sick.

Liquids & lots of them. Try to naturally flush your body.

I have always tried to train anyways. My colds and flu's seem to be more severe, if I give in and just lay on the couch. I've actually had some of my best PR's in lifting when I have had a cold. As long as you aren't very feverish, vomiting or pooping your brains out, a workout usually will make you feel better IMO. Drink lots! ;D

I agree with Matt, I'll still get a workout in when I'm sick, although I will cut it back to just the essential excerises. I also raise the weights a bit and lower the reps so that I'm not breathing as hard. After wondering about it for years, I finally asked my doctor about working out while sick and he told me that it won't cut into the time it takes to recover from anything like a typical cold or flu at all.

I would not and could not train when I am sick. That is your bodies way of telling you that you need to take it easy, relax and sleep so it can repair it's self. Besides it is hard to do anything when you feel like crap and probably just slows down the bodies repair time and you stay sick longer.
