Hey Everyone. I'm looking to begin training, but after searching the board, I've found nothing in Quebec; arm wrestling doesn't seem to be very popular here!! Anyways, there is a tournament on the 17th near Quebec City which would have been cool , but my band is playing the same night ( myspace.com/athand for anyone that's interested). So if there's any info out there, I would be interested. Thanks, Marc.

Can't help you much for who to get in touch with in Quebec but... If you are serious about getting into the sport, I highly recommned reading through lots of the threads in the training section here as you will be able to learn alot of movements that will help you to become a better armwrestler. Also. Check out www.armwrestlingtv.com/tempindex.htmlas you can learn alot about technique just from watching. Hope this helps a bit.

Cool. Thanks a lot!
I actually have some training from my father (ex-military arm wrestling champ back in the early 90's), but more is always needed.
And ya, I'm interested. I'm pretty small, but I've had success in the bar scene more than a few times!
Marc.

Armwrestling is popular in Quebec. There are alot of great pullers from that province. I'm sure it wont be hard to find some contacts. Where in Quebec are you?

That in itself means you are off to a great start.
Check out that ARMTV link I sent you and get building up your Finger, Hand, and Forearm strength now and it will only benefit you when you do find some people to train with.
Earlier this year I was training by myself at home with a pulley setup I had rigged to the ceiling in my living room and I would keep adding weight to that to get my strength up. Then when I did find a GREAT team to start training with in my area I was that much further ahead.
I wish you the best of luck in the sport and I hope somebody posts a contact that you can get ahold of.
If you just missed a tournament in your area then one would think that there is a club nearby.
Take care.

Hey Marc -
Where in Quebec are you? If you are in/near Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, or Ottawa/Gatineau, I can give you contact info.
Chris Gobby (819-578-5020) will be hosting a practice in Montreal this Saturday afternoon (and hopefully most/all subsequent Saturdays) - give him a call.
