I'm just wondering what you guys do at armwrestling practice to train your hook.

Took the words right out of my mouth Kehler... you can train the muscles to hook all you want in the gym but for me it seems I have to practice it regularly on the table or it makes no difference.

the only time I see a table is during a tournament, maybe once a month. The rest of the time i;m in the gym. And my hook is getting stronger every month. When it comes to strength training table time is overated.

Chris....
I have to disagree with you on this one ...I do not train with weights at all and I pull once a week with a bunch of guys here. When ever I want my hooking power to get better ... I will set myself up in a hook and let my guys here yank on it for awhile to build the strength back up in it. It only takes a couple of weeks of practicing like this and my hook can be very formidable to many pullers out there .... your self included ... as I know you have felt it before.
Take and spend sometime with it at the table .... especially starting in a losing position every-time and pulling yourself back up .... let the other person use two arms and pull on your one for awhile a burn yourself out .... then keep switching from a hand hold to a wrist lock .... your hook will get better .... believe me.

If you don't have people to practiice with regularily, gym training is the next best thing...
But there's always the rule of specificity, If you want that strength-speed and speed-strength ratio to be at its absolute best, you need table time to further develop the directional force application. You have to develop the absolute strength with a proprioceptive element.
My hook also gets better from gym training, but coupled with table time the progress doubles.
Just my opinion, everyone is different afterall.
