I was just curious. How long can you guys for until your tendons say enough. Usually my brother and I go for about an hour.

I have seen some guys go for HOURS... I pulled about a thousand matches after last year's nationals and felt it for about a month. Typically we practice for a few hours... but it is one table and anywhere between 3 and 8 people so we get rest between. I like to go until I can't go.

Phx Arms practices 1xweek - usually Sunday morning @ 11am at someone's garage. Usually 4-10 guys depending (6 average) and go for ~3 hours. Usually take a beer break for 10 min every hour but hit it fairly hard inbetween. I get a good pump going. As far as practice details - I'm sworn to secrecy

I'll pull as long as there are still arms to pull. I'm the last one on the table at practice. As with everyone else the length depends on how many pullers attend practice. Tonight we had 5 and it lasted only 1 hour.

I love pulling after a few beers. I find myself more stubborn and therefor pull harder and longer.

Then you also inhibit your recovery time and decrease neuromuscular drive to the motor units of the contractile tissue. Armwrestling is the only strength sport I've ever seen where people drink before/during tournaments, and in training. Somehow that just doesn't seen condusive to performance. However.. in Moosejaw 2 years ago I 'accidentally' got drunk in the beer tent, and it ended up being one of the best tournaments i've ever pulled... I was so much faster... It seemed that way anyhow. so who knows

When you drink during tournaments some people do better that way because it just seems to calm the nerves or something. Eases the pressure of the whole tournament, at least for some. I've had tournaments where I've drank and just done horrible, but at other torneys done just excellent. It probably has something to do with your body chemistry or some such thing. As for lengths of practise when I first started pulling, the first couple of years that is, we used to pull for around 3 hours at most sessions and we used to play what we called "king of the table" which was when one guy would start at the table and pull against everybody until they couldn't pull anymore. Awesome workout you just hurt like crazy for about 2 weeks.

We still do "King of the Table" although with 3 guys at practice it is not so hard.
When I used to go to Mike Barrett's place there would sometimes be 10 guys and we went largest to smallest. The goal being that by the time you would get down to the lightweight guys that they would be giving you just as hard a match as the guys closer to your own weight.

and u thought i was only drinkin after training....................now im all boy scout (Thanks Ryan)..........i usually go right to bed after i stagger out of the dungeon.which my garage is now known as and get some rest.
Kehler in describing your mmose jaw thing i have an idea on why........the booze calmed you and allowed you to focus in on armwrestling...you hit your zone that day and i bet it was euphoric.

Kehler was impressive that day... but I do believe we tested the theory again and it did not go so well. I think he would have pulled good that day either way.
