I would put money on it if this man was still alive!! But I don't think any one yet to this date could beat the legendary louis Cyr and a pull!!! First of all google this guy and look at his records and be amazed. I just want to see what kind of responds this gets mostly cause I just read the book on him. I don't even think the Devon Larratt would beat him!!

I am aware of his feats but was he actually an armwrestler?

I am aware of his feats but was he actually an armwrestler? Not that I've ever read but who knows. Ronnie Coleman is ridiculous strong but is a lousy armwrestler. But with training anything could happen I guess.

From what I've read, Louis Cyr would occasionally "twist wrists" with anyone who challenged him (close to what we call armwrestling). Of course, it is said he never lost. I seriously doubt Louis would be able to beat all of today's armwrestlers if they could be sent back in time. Louis would be at a severe disadvantage in terms of technique. Also, I'm skeptical of many of Louis' feats. In fact I'm skeptical of many seemingly impossible strength feats from over 100 years ago.

From the information that I have gathered from reading books and pictures form his life, I would say that he would still beat any one just by naturally hooking. Now for some thing really interesting Louis Cyr could lift 553 lbs with one finger!!! And with one hand 987 lbs, just think about that for hand strength and forearm!!! Now in the form very close to a curl he could pull 433 lbs with one are to his shoulder. Eric you are right about him twisting wrists, the book that I have written by Ben Weider has Louis Cyr twisting with other strong men from all over the world. To put one more thing into perspective the Louis Cyr barbell was released from the Weider family vault and eight professional powerlifters were permitted to try Louis Cyr barbell that he trained with and not a one could lift it. Also in 1976 Vasily Alexeev tried the barbell challenge and being the current worlds strongest man and Olympic Champion could not fully to the weight that Louis Cyr just trained with!! I still think he would have been a undisputed Champion in arm wrestling too.
