About me:
I'll be 40 in May. Ive lifted pretty hard since a teen and worked mostly manual labor jobs. Im decently strong at conventional weight lifting but I've enjoyed strongman stuff and grip training for awhile. I've always been interested in arm wrestling and have done it but mostly at the bar and stuff like that. I joined a gym that has an actual real table and The owner and I have been practicing a lot lately. Ive started researching how to specifically train for arm wrestling and Im learning some new technique and I must say that I love it so far. Ive got my first tourney in 2 weeks and im excited but nervous also.
I think I know what exercises to be doing and know that actual table time is best. im mostly concerned with not hurting myself. I warm up really well before pulling hard but my issue is that im the kind of guy that gets interested in something so I overdo it lol. Even now I want to train everyday but I know That I gotta give my tendons and ligaments rest. Also im concerned about breaking my d**n arm. I know what the arm break position is but sometimes nuts happens.
Side pressure? I hear that "training" it can lead to injuries, true?
Smaller hands? For a bigger guy I have smaller hands, although my grip is pretty strong I just dont have long wide hands. I know its a disadvantage and I wont let it stop me but is there any style I should focus on to help make up for it?
Thanks to all who read ALL this post and for any advice.
