Just finished watching Vera vs: Couture and he was robbed. All Couture did was hold him against the fence so he wouldn't have to eat more kicks in the body and head.
I thought the fight was going to be over 10 secs in when Vera landed his first kick.

On one hand I saw that Couture did what he needed to do. He controlled the fight and closed the distance and used dirty boxing to score some points. He really wanted to get Vera to the ground but that just didn't happen.
Vera's Stricking was unreal and landed many punches and some of the hardest kicks I have ever seen in the octagon. He should have received many points for those shots landed and should have received even more points for kicking Couture so hard that he buckled to the ground and should have received even more points for his takedown in the 3rd round.
I'm a HUGE Couture fan but yeah Terry, I have to agree that Vera was seriously robbed. What a shame. tsk tsk tsk.

Couture did enough to win. Glad he got the nod. He controlled the majority of the fight. 3 bodykicks are not enough to win a fight.

I just figured with the brutally landed leg kicks and strikes followed by a take down would be worth more points than pressing your opponent up against the cage while failing to get a take down while landing a few weak dirty boxing strikes. I still can't see where Couture would have received more points. I was guessing Couture was wearing out Vera my pressing him against the cage and would open up on Vera in the 3rd round but unfortunately it just didn't happen. I was cheering for Couture the whole time to.

Because they score each round... not the entire fight. Vera definitely won a round... but he did not do enough to win rounds 1 or 3.

Yeah, I know they do it round by round but I still didn't see where Couture really won a round. I suppose round 3 he was fairing better than Vera though except for the takedown. I see kinda what you mean though.

I really wouldn't have been surprised had it gone either way. I am glad Randy got the "W" though. Vera will never be a contender but I think Randy could move forward into some more compelling fights.

Don't get me wrong. I'm also very excited that Couture Won. I hope he keeps climbing the ranks and get a Title yet another time. He's a true athlete with the heart of a Lion.

His hands are slowing down though... and his chin seems softer. I hope he gets a couple wins and leaves on a high note.
